I grew up in post-socialist Romania, where food was (and still is) the center of the universe. To me, this had the exact opposite effect, though: I avoided cooking as much as possible. However, now I'm at a time in my life when I resolved to press pause on the outside world and focus on myself. Cooking has become a great part of that, but I still struggle with gathering the patience and attention it deserves. I'd like to stop perceiving it as a waste of time and this is a nudge in the right direction. I love the way you sum up the essence of the human being in this paragraph. I've already ventured into the unknown realm of cooking, so hopefully I will soon start delighting in it. Oh, and thank God for slow cookers! :-)
